Meet the Hendersonville Home Store Floral Team
If you’ve been inside the Hospice Home Store on Main Street, Hendersonville, you’ve likely seen stunning floral arrangements. These beautiful creations are designed by our volunteer Floral Team.
Mary Jane leads the 5-person team comprised of Janet, Carol, Wanda, and Bonnie. Each member brings a special set of skills and talents to the process.
The Creative Process
When floral and seasonal décor is donated, they are delivered directly to the Floral Team’s work area. Bonnie and Wanda will disassemble decorated Christmas trees to identify if string lights are working and salvage any ornaments they can.
Once all components are disassembled, cleaned, and sorted, the Team gets to work on creating unique floral designs. They create everything from centerpieces, tablescapes, wreaths, and themed holiday trees. “Without the creativity and dedication of the team, we would not have the ability to create art out of donated items,” stated Mary Jane.
The Floral Team speaks about their love for what they do and has a wonderful time working together as they all have different strengths, and they learn from and with each other. Over the past four years, the Floral Team’s creative innovations have blossomed. Sheryl, the Operations Manager, oversees the store and believes the Floral Team’s accomplishments have no limits!
More than a Job
The importance of having Four Seasons Hospice alongside when a loved one is nearing the end of life is understood by the Floral Team members. Their devoted volunteering at the Home Store gives them each an opportunity to share their talents for a cause that is near and dear to their hearts. Through designing artistic centerpieces, creating Christmas Trees, and hand-crafting wreaths, they know their work has meaning and makes a lasting impact on our local community.
